Register of sonographers
Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers
The College of Radiographers (CoR) administers a Public Voluntary Register for those individuals practising as sonographers. Individuals may have their name entered on this register which will help members of the public and employers to confirm that the sonographer undertaking their examination is appropriately qualified.
Renewal of Voluntary Registration
Renewal for Registration period March 1st 2017 to February 28th 2019.
We ask that you renew your voluntary registration every 2 years. To ensure that your name remains on the voluntary register it is important that you must:
1. already be confirmed on the register
2. complete a professional declaration
3. confirm or complete the information we have on file for you.
There is no fee for renewal if you are an SCoR ordinary member, associate professional member or SVT PII member. There is also no fee if you are statutorily registered with the HCPC or NMC.
We would encourage all sonographers who are currently on the voluntary register to renew as this will help to protect the public and to support the continuing bid for statutory registration for sonographers.
If you are not an SCoR member you will not be able to use the on-line form. Please contact email@example.com and we will send you a PDF version for completion or download it and return to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Doctors registered with the GMC with or without a Licence to Practice cannot be accepted onto the voluntary register either at the time of new application or renewal.
- Your personal Scope of Practice will no longer be recorded so that its is visible to the public, just your name and work town location will be visible on a on-line search
- If you do not renew during the designated period of March 1st through April 30th, 2017, then you will have to submit a new application and go through our full ‘new application’ procedures. There may be a fee.
You may check to see if you are currently registered by searching for your name on this page https://www.sor.org/practice/ultrasound/register-sonographers
If you have tried to access the renewal application form but were unable to, and believe that you are currently registered, please contact email@example.com
If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are currently listed on the voluntary register and are an SCoR member you may begin the renewal registration process at this link.
It should not take more than five minutes to complete the renewal form.
- There is no Professional Indemnity Insurance associated with Voluntary Registration on this register.
The application form for new applicants can be found here. The current registration cycle will end on 28 February 2017, when all voluntary registrants will be asked to renew.
Please note that there is no Professional Indemnity Insurance benefit associated with the voluntary register. This must be obtained via an employer, membership of a professional body, such as the Society and College of Radiographers, or an insurance company.
There is no fee for voluntary registration if you are already statutorily registered with the HCPC or NMC, and/or an ordinary, associated professional or SVT indemnity insurance member of the SCoR. Please see fees schedule PDF at the bottom of this page.
Please note that whilst processes are in place to check qualifications, current practice and on-going continuing professional development, acceptance on to this voluntary register does not in itself authenticate competence or fitness to practice. For further details please see the Policy and Processes PDF which can be found at the bottom of this page.
Search for your Sonographer
To search for an individual, please enter their surname into the search box. This will identify all individuals with that surname along with the location of their workplace. In order to protect individuals only limited information will be viewed and it is not possible to search on any criteria other than a known surname. In the past, scope of practice was also displayed here, but this is no longer the case although we do hold the information in our database.
If you have any enquiries with regards to the voluntary register, please telephone the Society and College of Radiographers (membership department) or contact us
***Please Note: An asterix (*) after the voluntary registrant’s name indicates that they have been admitted to the register with a ‘preceptorship’ annotation. For details see ‘Policy and Processes’ document (Scroll down to bottom of this page) or contact us.
