There's still time to go for gold!

This year, the Society of Radiographers is celebrating its 90th anniversary. As part of a series of events, the SCoR will present up to five Gold Medals – the highest honour the Society bestows on a member of the diagnostic and therapeutic imaging profession.
The Society is now seeking nominations from members. The medals will be awarded to those who have made exceptional contributions to radiography, developed the profession, and advanced the SCoR. There is no prerequisite to be a member and nominees can be from outside the profession. The nomination may be based on current and/or past work.
Nominations must be submitted with a description of the nominee’s outstanding contribution as recognised and acclaimed by his or her peers, and they must demonstrate an exceptional level of achievement, excellence and/or innovation in at least three fields. The nomination form must also be supported and signed by at least ten members of the SCoR.
The Gold Medal was first presented in 1970 and since then no more than 19 imaging professionals have received the award – ten in 1970 and nine in 1995.
Professor Audrey Paterson, director of professional policy for the SCoR, and a 1995 recipient of the Gold Medal, commented: “Being awarded the Gold Medal was, and remains, the most meaningful highlight of my career. At one and the same time, I felt immensely humble and very proud to receive it; and I was also deeply touched that it was colleagues and peers who had nominated me.
“I am still not sure why I was felt to be worthy of such an accolade, but I do know that others are, so I hope there will be a huge response to Council’s call for nominations.”
The nomination form can be downloaded here. Forms must be submitted by 9 April 2010. Nominations will be considered by the Gold Medal Awards Committee who will make recommendations to UK Council on 27 April. The names of the recipients will be confirmed soon after.
