Our thank you to radiography professionals and support workers across the globe
World Radiography Day (WRD) is celebrated on 8 November each year.
The date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895.
Radiography professionals worldwide can use the day and the days around the date to promote radiography as a career, as a vital contribution to modern healthcare, and as an opportunity to increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy.
To help you prepare for your celebrations on 8 November, we’ve sent all members a WRD pack which will arrive to your home in the next few weeks. This follows two motions put forth at ADC 2024 in which we were asked to improve how we distribute materials in a more fair and efficient way.
This year, poster packs have been sent out as part of the Autumn Insight mailing. With each member receiving materials directly, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in celebrating WRD.
Each year, we invite SoR members to design a poster that will be included in our World Radiography Day pack of materials which will be displayed in hundreds of imaging and radiotherapy departments across the UK.
The theme of this year’s poster competition was ‘Radiographers: Seeing the Unseen’ and we called on members to design a concept that best represents this.
