A question frequently posed to us from senior managers is what does the SoR provide for us as senior manager members?  

We understand why this question is asked and that it partly arises from frustration as the SoR’s support appears one sided in favour of staff during any dispute or negotiations, but it is perception rather than reality. In such situations, your staff are involved in industrial discussions with you as their manager in for example wanting to make changes to established working patterns; staff have access to SoR industrial support and you have access to resources, advice and support from your HR directorate as well as to professional advice from the professional and education team at SoR. 

Similarly, should you as a manager find yourself in dispute with your management framework, then you would have access to industrial support from the SoR.
