Guidance on Improving Access to Radiotherapy – Increasing working hours

This document has been produced by IPEM, RCR and SCoR and reviews the issues that need to be considered when increasing provision of radiotherapy by extending the working hours of Radiotherapy departments. It outlines potential options and the associated practicalities to be addressed when expanding radiotherapy capacity through increasing radiotherapy departments’ working hours and/or days. The aim of this document is to support and inform those who lead and manage radiotherapy services and are responsible for working with commissioners to meet the demand for radiotherapy.
