SoR and BMUS Guidelines for Professional Ultrasound Practice (2023)

The Society of Radiographers and the British Medical Ultrasound Society continue to collaborate on this comprehensive guidance document to support ultrasound practice. Reviewed in 2023, this is the eight edition and has been updated to ensure the most current information and links to documents were included at the time of writing.

The guidelines are to support departments provide safe, effective person-centred care. Evidence continues to evolve, so it is strongly recommended that the guidance within this document is reviewed in relation to local policy, current evidence and risk assessment.

The Guidelines are divided into a number of sections:

• Introduction to the ultrasound examination
• Ultrasound clinical examinations
• Additional procedures
