SoR and BMUS Guidelines for Professional Ultrasound Practice

The Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) have worked with the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) to update the SCoR and BMUS 'Guidelines for Professional Ultrasound Practice'. 

In this sixth edition many sections have been updated and new sections added. 

Many sections have been updated and new sections added. The date of updates is provided within the document for ease e.g. [2021]. The format of the document has changed and streamlining of the sections has taken place.

Additional changes include:

• Revision of all clinical sections by experts in the field, to follow a similar format and provide additional resources and further reading
• New clinical sections include obstetrics, the penis, prostate gland, adult lumps and bumps
• The obstetric section has more detail of areas with less detailed guidance available. In most cases, particularly in relation to screening in pregnancy, national guidelines are referred to
• Hyperlinks to the new elearning for healthcare sessions for Saving Babies Lives care bundle version 2 have been added
• Information about the change from the Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (PVRS) to the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) has been added
• Links to a QA manual are included
