The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (Great Britain), (IR(ME)R) and the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 20002 (IR(ME)(NI)R) came into force in 2000/2001, in concordance with the European Directive 97/43/Euratom (The Medical Exposures Directive, 1997). The GB Regulations were amended in 2006 and 2011 and in 2010 for NI. Of course, the new IR(ME)R 2017 and IR(ME)R (NI) 2018 will come into force on 6 February 2018 in concordance with the European Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom.
