A therapeutic radiographer from Ipswich Hospital has been recognised for her hard work and awarded a Person of the Year award.
Sue Downes, a radiographer since 2003, was awarded the Hospital/Ambulance Person of the Year at the Suffolk Stars awards evening and was labelled as the ‘unsung heroine of Ipswich Hospital’.
“Despite working in a busy and stressful environment, dedicated Sue always shows the greatest professionalism and is an amazing colleague to her team,” the nomination said.
“She goes the extra mile to make sure the needs of patients are met and is always respectful and kind to everyone she meets.”
The Suffolk Stars awards have been running for 13 years and honour the bravest, most dedicated and caring individuals in the area.
Suzanne Isherwood, the radiotherapy manager, said, “Since I have known Sue, she has never lost the determination, drive to succeed, and the desire to impart her knowledge and skills on the next generation of student radiographers.
“She is an excellent role model and inspiration to everyone she works with.”
