The SoR has named the highly commended runners up in the Educator of the Year category at the 2024 Radiography Awards.

This year's Radiography Awards will take place on November 7 in London. Ahead of the awards ceremony, the SoR is recognising the highly-commended runners up in each category.

There are four categories: Professional of the Year, Learner of the Year, Radiography Team of the Year and Educator of the Year. Educator of the Year is the only category that allows for a single winner.

All 2024 Radiography Award winners were announced earlier this month. The overall winner of Educator of the Year for 2024 is Alex Partner, who was recognised for her commitment to supporting and mentoring students.

Radiography Educator of the Year: Highly commended runners-up

Scotland: Elisabeth Taylor, lecturer in radiography, Queen Margaret University - for her work to make radiography education fully inclusive for disabled and LGBT+ individuals, and prioritising patient involvement and person-centred care.

London: Yasmeen Malik, senior lecturer, St George’s University of London - for demonstrating an exceptional commitment to her students’ success, going “above and beyond” to ensure they understand complex concepts.

Midlands: Lindsay Sparks, Royal Derby Hospital - for going “out of her way” to provide opportunities for learning in her radiotherapy department, but also elsewhere in the hospital and at other trusts to provide a high standard of education for all the apprentices.

South East: Kelly Chipperfield, lecturer, University of Plymouth - for making her lessons memorable and digestible, as well as offering personal support to students when needed.

Wales: Kerry Owen, lecturer, Cardiff University - for bringing her radiography experience into her teaching and using different methods to deliver lessons.

The Radiography Awards celebrate radiographers in all career stages who have gone above and beyond in their role to provide a high standard of care and/or pursue academic excellence.
