Winners of prestigious awards announced at SoR's presidential inauguration

At a ceremony at Manchester Hall this week, awards winners were presented their prizes by the SoR presidential team

During the SoR’s presidential inauguration on Wednesday (July 3), winners in a variety of awards categories were presented with their medals and certificates. 

The inauguration held at Manchester Hall’s Goulborn Lodge in Manchester celebrated the passing of the torch from Dave Pilborough to 87th president Tom Welton.

Alongside CEO Richard Evans, Mr Pilborough and Mr Welton presented awards to members of the SoR.

Outstanding contributions

The College of Radiographers Fellowship, which recognises outstanding contributions to the profession of radiography and the advancement of the Society of Radiographers, was awarded to radiographer Peter Sharpe and Therapeutic Radiographer Ross McGhee.

The silver medal was presented to Therapeutic Radiographer Dianne Hogg.

Awards at UKIO

Also presented were the winners of awards announced at UKIO.

The Forder Memorial Award is awarded to the best paper proffered by a student. It is given in memory of a founder of the SoR, and member of the first Council of the Society.

This year, Poppy Ulett was awarded the Forder Memorial Award.

The Alan Nichols Memorial Award is given to the best paper proffered by a radiographer, and was won by both Amy Hancock and Naman Julka-Anderson, received on his behalf by Joanna MacNamara.

Charlotte Bolan, meanwhile, received the Beth Whittaker ePoster prize, which recognises the best electronic poster submitted at UKIO.
