Midlands AHP Ethnic Minority Network is seeking expressions of interest for a new chair and deputy chair, following the departure of its prior co-chairs.

The previous chairs, radiographer Malany Kalicharan and physiotherapist Salil Parkar have left the network, and new chairs are being sought to support colleagues in the region.

These roles are non-remunerated, but provide a “wealth of experience” and exposure to a number of opportunities.

This includes chairing a regional network, informal mentoring, working closely with senior AHP leaders across the region, organising meetings, agendas and speakers, driving forward the AHP Ethnic Minority agenda regionally, and aligning with the national programme set by the Chief AHP Officer Black Asian Minority Ethnic Strategic Advisory Group (CAHPO BAME SAG).

'Achieving amazing things'

Gordon Bigham, regional chief allied health professional for NHS England Midlands, said: “I wish to thank Malany Kalicharan and Salil Parkar for leading the Midlands AHP Ethnic Minority (EM) Network over the past 18 months and for being the first co-chairs of our regional network.

“They have driven the agenda, established the network with a growing number of colleagues joining and have achieved some amazing things with the support of other colleagues working regionally.

Passion for the role

Radiographers interested in either of these opportunities should send their expressions of interest, writing up to 400 words on why they are the best person to take on the role of chair or deputy chair, to [email protected], before end of day on Friday 18 October.

Interested parties will not have formal interviews due to the involuntary nature of the roles.due to the voluntary nature of the roles.

Applicants will instead be invited to an informal conversation to discuss their expression of interest, and further share their passion for taking on one of these roles.
