SoR launches employability webinar series for students with Skilled Personnel

A new series of online webinars will equip students with the information, tools and strategies they need to excel in a radiographic career

Registration is now open for a new Employability Webinar Series providing SoR student, apprentice and new professional members with the information they need for future career progression.

In collaboration with the Skilled Personnel Network, an online resource hub and career progression community designed specifically for radiographers, the webinar series will provide students with advice for interviews, networking and scope of practice.

All sessions are free to attend and exclusive to SoR members. 

Employability and industry insights

The Students’ and New Professionals’ Employability Webinar Series is set to launch in January, with three full webinars being released over the following months.

Kicking off on 20 January, from 7pm-8.30pm, students will be able to access the Exploring Career Pathways: Scope, Opportunities and Industry Insights webinar.

This session takes an overview of different career pathways across clinical practice, academia and industry, with information on role extension and ways to increase your scope of practice in various sectors, as well as how future trends are shaping the industry, such as artificial intelligence.

Attendees will get an opportunity to think critically about their career goals and how they align with industry needs. 

Speakers include Fodi Kyriakos, radiography workforce specialist with Skilled Personnel Consulting, and Baruch Videan, advanced practitioner at Stepping Hill.

Networking and connections

On 17 February, from 7pm-8.30pm, students will be able to join the Networking as a Career Catalyst: Building Connections for Success webinar.

This webinar teaches practical strategies to build and sustain professional relationships, as well as providing guidance on how to create impactful profiles on professional social networking sites like LinkedIn.
 
Speakers including Mr Kyriakos and John Hoath, radiographer in radioinfomatics, PACS and RIS Specialist, will also cover how leveraging connections can help uncover hidden opportunities, with real-world examples.

Interviews and confidence

The third and final webinar in the series, Mastering the Interview Process: CVs, Interviews and Confidence, will be realised on 24 March, also from 7pm-8.30pm.

This session will equip participants with tools and techniques to excel in the recruitment process. Alexandros Leontaritis, radiology manager and hiring, at St George’s Hospital, will discuss common candidate mistakes and provide practical advice.

By attending, students will hear advice on preparing their CV, cover letter or personal statement, common candidate mistakes and pitfalls, tips for mastering behavioural and competency-based interview questions, and information on what to expect at an interview.
