The Society has made two webinars newly available for SoR members and non-members.
The webinars are entitled Understanding Radiation Protection: Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR) and Understanding Radiation Protection: The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.
They are free to access for SoR members via the on-demand library. However, as this information is essential for pre-registration training and is vital for patient and public safety, the SoR has also made the webinars available to non-members. Non-members can access the webinars here.
After watching the webinars, participants will be able to explain the key principles and legislative framework of both the IRR 2017 and IR(ME)R 2017 (IR(ME)R 2018 NI) in clinical practice. They will also know their responsibilities and the responsibilities of others, as well as how these apply to their practice.
The webinars also promote where to find appropriate support and guidance.
The webinars take place in the form of presentations by Julie Rankin, Professional Officer Scotland and Radiation Protection. An SoR spokesperson said that the presentations would provide an essential refresher for radiography staff on the basic principles of the practice.
“Originally developed to support induction training for HCPC registered international recruits to diagnostic imaging services in the UK, these webinars provide a refresher of the fundamental principles that underpin essential radiation protection knowledge and skills for entry level radiographers,” said the spokesperson.
“They may be used by educators and practice educators, radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists, assistant practitioners, and student radiographers undertaking radiation protection CPD.”
The SoR on-demand library also features a host of other professional development tools, including webinars such as Optimisation: The Art of Radiography, Introducing ‘Inclusive Pregnancy Status’ Guidance and IR(ME)R 2017: The Implications for Carers and Comforters.
