The Society of Radiographers has announced its second Schwartz Round event is available now for student registration.
Held in conjunction with the Student Network, Schwartz Rounds provide an opportunity to hear from two or three storytellers based on a theme, before everyone discusses their own feelings and emotions relating to situations they have experienced.
Schwartz Rounds are about exploring emotions rather than finding solutions, with the focus on feelings rather than on what listeners might do differently in the future.
The SoR is the first professional body to hold a Schwartz Round License from the Point of Care foundation.
The next Round’s theme is ‘a mistake that stayed with me’, and will be held on Monday 24 February 2025, from 7pm - 8.30pm.
Schwartz Rounds explore the challenges and rewards associated with providing care. They provide a structured forum for those attending to discuss the emotional and or social aspects of working in healthcare.
Rounds can help you students feel more supported during studies and training and offer a space to reflect, help normalise the strong emotions that arise from clinical work and being a learner and provide greater insight, compassion for and appreciation of one another’s roles.
In addition, attending Schwartz Rounds as a student can help develop valuable lifelong skills and practices for processing the emotional impact of work in healthcare.
Gill Harrison, SoR professional officer for ultrasound, said: “Joining a round helps you as a learner to hear about other people’s experiences, gives you an opportunity to reflect on and explore your own emotions and feelings and if you choose to, share those with the other participants.
“It can help to recognise similar emotions, validate your own experiences or compare how you felt or reacted in similar circumstances.”

If interested in being a ‘storyteller’ for this session or future Rounds, contact [email protected] for more information.
You will be supported to develop your story into a five minute overview of a situation linked to the theme ‘A mistake that stayed with me’.
