The European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) Diploma for Radiotherapy is open for applications - and the first 10 are free!
Charlotte Beardmore, the SCoR’s director of professional policy explains, “The diploma does not replace national requirements, but it is open to HCPC registered radiographers from the UK.
“As the Society of Radiographers is an affiliated organisation to the EFRS, a 50% reduction in fees is offered to SoR members and we are encouraging them to apply. The EFRS have also announced that the first 10 places are free to eligible applicants."
Based on a partnership between the European Board of Radiology (EBR) and EFRS, the examination for radiotherapy is scheduled at City, University of London on 10 June.
There are many potential benefits to taking the diploma, including:
A standard of knowledge equivalent to the learning outcomes of the EFRS European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6 Benchmarking Document for Radiographers (2018) will be demonstrated through success in the exam.
Aiming to raise the profile of radiography as a profession in Europe with other stakeholders (EANM, EFOP, ESR and ESTRO), it is also a further step forward in the harmonisation of radiography standards.
The examination for diagnostic radiography was held in March during ECR 2019. The radiotherapy exam will be single 90-minute sitting and will test applicants’ core knowledge of radiography and radiotherapy.
Spaces are limited so booking early is advised and places will be granted on a first-come first-served basis.
