Student Research Awards: Grants of up to £1000 available
If you are thinking about a career in research and need some research experience, act now and apply for a CoRIPS Student Research Award.
Grants of up to £1000 are available for projects by individuals or small groups of students. You must be registered on a College of Radiographers’ approved pre-registration programme, as well as being a student member of the SoR.
Recent successful applications have included a project by Steven Cox, diagnostic student at Exeter University which surveyed the extent and impact of peer support within diagnostic radiography undergraduate programmes.
He said “Having the CoRIPS grant has been an incredibly valuable experience in so many ways. I could not recommend the grant enough to any students with an interest in research.”

Designed to support radiographers who have very little or no research experience, apply for a CoRIPS Research Grant.
The awards form part of the College of Radiographers’ commitment to the implementation of the SCoR's research strategy, by funding small grants for projects related to any aspect of the science and practice of radiography. Funding of up to £5,000 is available for small projects and up to £10,000 for one larger project.
Recent successful applicants include Laura Charlesworth, course leader for BSc Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sheffield Hallam University, who researched therapeutic radiographers' perceptions of the barriers and enablers in providing support or referring to smoking cessation support.
Laura said: “It just would not have been possible to complete my research without the CoRIPS funding.”

Present your paper at an international conference!
Would you like to attend a professional conference outside the UK and present your work but need some financial help to do so? If so, apply for an Overseas Conference Grant (Legacy Fund).
Funding up to £1000 will support members of the Society of Radiographers (SoR), or a small team of members, to travel overseas and present the findings of their research and/or service evaluation as an oral paper at an international conference.
To apply for the grant, applicants should submit a 1500 word proposal outlining their work, how their paper is expected to impact on patient care and the expected outcomes from the work.
