Georgina Charlton from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, gave a different perspective on the Trust’s ongoing ISAS journey and the challenges she has faced leading the accreditation project.
Georgina shared some unique insights on the type of qualities required to lead on a project of the scale of that undertaken by Guy’s, covering all imaging modalities across three separate sites.
“You need to have a clear vision for the project, understand why and how is it aligned with trust values, you need buy-in from stakeholders and full management support, you need a clear timeline and stick to it and you need optimism – keep smiling!” she said.
“ISAS is like climbing a mountain and we haven’t quite got there yet. We are changing dramatically – we’ve got more investment in equipment going on all the time so we have to keep up with all these changes.
“It hasn’t been easy but we have been committed so far and we’ve got to keep being committed – even when things get tough.”
