The Society has published two more posters about safe manual handling of patients to add to the ones published and distributed to health and safety reps last year.
The latest versions are suitable for use in radiotherapy centres and are both for staff areas and for use in waiting rooms to be seen by patients and carers.
They remind radiographers and other staff that 40% of at-work injuries are caused by the incorrect or dangerous manual handling of patients.
The posters for patients ask for help and co-operation and to let the radiographer know if the patient has a disability or injury that makes it difficult or uncomfortable for them to be moved or positioned in a particular way.
Copies of the posters have been sent to SoR health and safety reps and they can be downloaded from the Manual handling page.
