Staff working in the diagnostic imaging department at the Alexandra Hospital in Worcestershire have been celebrating after receiving an ‘Outstanding Practice’ rating following the CQC’s latest inspection of the radiology department.
The only service to receive Outstanding in the trust, the report stated, “Staff routinely exceeded patient expectations to deliver a service that was person-centred, individualised and represented the totality of each patient’s needs.
"They switched seamlessly between communication styles to help patients understand their procedure and staff of different types worked well together to facilitate this.”
There were smiles all round in the radiology sites across the county when the CQC’s report was published because radiology services were rated overall as ‘Good’. Radiology at Kidderminster Treatment Centre was also commended for a Good rating in all inspected domains of ‘Safe’, ‘Caring’, ‘Responsive’ and ‘Well-led’.
Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust also made significant improvements in its recent CQC rating, moving to an overall rating from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘requires Improvement’ from the published CQC report received in September, following an inspection carried out in May. The trust had made improvements in 41 of the 79 domains inspected.
The Radiology Management Team praised the dedication and hard work that continues to be put into delivering radiology services across Worcestershire. “There have been improvements across all domains, areas and sites. This was a wonderful achievement for all of our countywide team.”
