Patient consent: members’ input requested

Published: 04 July 2016 Ezine

Do you have an interest in the issues around patient consent and are you able to provide some time over the next year?

The SCoR wants to update existing guidance for staff and to develop a NICE accredited clinical practice guideline for the whole profession.

Sarah James, the professional officer at the Society and College who is leading on the work, says, “We are seeking members from across the profession who have an interest or expertise in issues surrounding consent to be a part of the guideline development group.

“The work will be carried out over a 12 month period estimated to be starting during August 2016 and communication will mainly occur by electronic media, with occasional meetings. Travel costs will be covered.”

Please email Sarah James by Friday, 29 July.

The two principle documents which will be reviewed are:

Consent to Imaging and Radiotherapy Treatment Examinations

Patient Identification, Confidentiality and Consent: Further Guidance

There other documents which may be discussed by the group.
