The SoR is seeking opinions from members in Scotland about the proposed pay deal for radiographers and other NHS staff.

Agenda for Change staff in Scotland have been offered a pay deal by the Scottish government, including a 5.5 per cent consolidated rise backdated to April 1 2024.

Society members in Scotland are due to receive the consultation link via email from the week commencing 26 August.

The deal was reached following several weeks of negotiation between trade unions, the Scottish government and NHS Employers.

Now, the SoR is seeking consultation from members in Scotland on whether the deal should be accepted.

'Months of pressure'

A statement from the SoR said: “STAC [Scottish Terms and Conditions Committee] staffside submitted a collective claim, for an offer that reflected the increased cost of living, back in February 2024. It has taken months of pressure from the health trade unions to get to this point. SoR members have been patient. It is now up to them to decide whether or not this offer is sufficient."

The offer will now be considered in detail by your Scottish Representative's Forum and by Scottish Council, with a view to issuing a recommendation with the forthcoming electronic consultation.

'Weeks of constructive engagement'

Scottish government health Secretary Neil Gray said: “Following weeks of constructive engagement with trade union representatives, I am pleased to have agreed an offer, in recognition of the Pay Review Body recommendations, that will ensure Scotland’s nurses and NHS staff have the best pay package in the UK. The unions will now consult their members and I hope it will be accepted.

“I want to express my thanks again to Scotland’s hardworking healthcare staff for their commitment and patience – they are the very backbone of the NHS and we are committed to supporting them, particularly during a cost of living crisis. I am grateful for the continued efforts around the table and that the trade unions will now put this to their members.”

Arrangements are being made for the electronic consultation (which will contain a survey asking if you accept the offer) to reach you from the week beginning 26 August.

To ensure that you receive this consultation please check your emails  and where necessary update your SoR contact details.
