The SoR Magnetic Resonance Advisory Group has launched the inaugural MRI Safety Week poster competition, seeking creative submissions that promote MRI safety.
Commencing this week (2 April), the competition will remain open until Friday 2 May. The winning designer will receive a framed copy of their poster, and the opportunity to have their team featured in Synergy, the SoR’s monthly membership magazine.
Winning designs will also be available to download from the SoR website.
'Protecting patients and professionals'
The Magnetic Resonance Advisory Group (MRAG) is inviting members to submit their poster designs and concepts as part of MRI Safety Week, to showcase their creativity and commitment to promoting MRI safety.
MRI Safety Week is commemorated every July, this year from 21-27 July, and serves as a platform for raising awareness of best practice in safety among patients, staff, and referrers.
For a chance at winning, members must submit a poster that fits this year’s theme: 'MRI Safety – Protecting Patients and Professionals'.
Submissions may focus on any aspect of MRI safety, including patient preparation, staff awareness, and best practice for referrers.

Mafalda Sousa and Tamsin Taylor, chair and co-chair of the MRAG, said: “MRI safety is vital to protecting both patients and healthcare professionals. By taking part in this competition, you can help spread awareness and reinforce best practices in MRI departments across the UK.
“We are looking for creative and impactful designs that help promote a culture of safety in MRI environments. You do not need to be an artist—we value the message and idea behind your work! Winning designs will be professionally adapted for printing.

Submissions and participation
The winning poster will be digitally distributed to hundreds of imaging and radiotherapy departments across the UK as part of MRI Safety Week, running from 21–25 July 2025.
To submit a design, members should complete the Poster Competition Entry Form before 2 May.
Submissions must be made by a current SoR member, including student members, and can include only one design, but may be made in the submitter’s medium of choice.
