Professor Ric Khine has been appointed as the new editor of Imaging & Oncology, a prestigious publication owned by the Society of Radiographers.

The call for a new editor was issued in May, after former editor Professor Ruth Strudwick announced that she would be stepping down after six years at the helm.

In his new role, Professor Khine will lead the development of the annual Imaging and Oncology (I&O) publication, which is launched each year in time for the UKIO conference.

The editions usually feature 10 to 12 articles relevant to the imaging and oncology professions. Those featured in the magazine have a range of backgrounds, with radiographers, radiologists and nurses having contributed in the past.

Professor Khine will officially step into the role in September 2024.

Previously, he held the role of universities officer, working a three-year tenure for the SoR London Region Committee.

Exciting time for Imaging & Oncology

Charlotte Beardmore, executive director of professional policy at SoR, said that Professor Khine’s experience will bring a new perspective to Imaging & Oncology.

“We are pleased to appoint Professor Ric Khine, as the new editor of Imaging & Oncology,” she said. “It is an exciting time for this publication as we move towards providing a more interactive experience for readers.”

“Having Ric’s expertise and insight will help this important forward-thinking publication go from strength to strength, building on the excellent work led by the outgoing editor Prof. Ruth Strudwick’s work.”

Professor Khine said he was looking forward to taking on the editor role and contributing further to the radiography profession.

“I am extremely delighted and excited to take up the position of editor for Imaging & Oncology,” he said. “What a great opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the radiography profession.”

“It will be a privilege to work closely with Charlotte, the College and the publication team at Wonderly on developing a new vision for our readers and ensuring the publication goes from strength to strength.”
