Alexandra who is assistant discipline lead for diagnostic imaging, operating department practice and osteopathy at the University of Derby, says the overall aim of the educational wing is to promote and develop all levels of radiography education and research across Europe and her appointment is an opportunity for a representative from the UK to input into the strategic direction of the board.
“I really want to increase affiliate membership among our higher education institutions and increase engagement of both academics and students. I am hoping to see more involvement from both at our next student seminar and our webinar series,” said Alexandra.
“There is a lot of great research and innovation in pedagogic practice and practice placement that we can share and learn across Europe – so spreading the word will be high on my agenda.
“I would also like to work towards fostering more international collaboration of research and student-facing activity, such as learning, teaching, assessment and placement.”
Alexandra’s goals for her involvement with the EFRS are:
Creating opportunities for elective placement or placement exchanges.
Increasing participation in the student seminar study day.
Supporting shared learning across Europe.
Charlotte Beardmore, executive board member and Immediate Past President of EFRS and executive director of professional policy at the Society and College of Radiographers, said it was positive that a UK radiographer and educator had been elected to the EFRS educational wing’s management team.
