SoR is trialling the provision of monthly drop-in sessions for members to discuss anything related to radiation protection or radiation safety.
Running on the first Wednesday of every month between 7pm and 8pm, this is your opportunity to ask questions, pose problems or seek solutions from colleagues.
Sessions will provide attendees more information on radiation protection and safety.
Topics can be related to The Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, The Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, how to implement your local employer’s procedures or anything you are currently working on improving.
Radiographers might find it helpful to join if you have questions about the 2024 IR(ME)R amendments, duty holder responsibilities and entitlement, non-medical referrers, justification of exposures, training and education or anything you would like clarification on related to IR(ME)R.
If you are a radiation protection and safety officer, or are considering becoming one, ask about the role of an RPS, local rules, or governance of IRR 2017.
Lynda Johnson, professional officer for clinical imaging and radiation protection, said: “You may not be sure what regulations cover your question, so this is a chance to find out more.
“Questions are welcomed from the perspective of all levels of experience and knowledge, and everyone will be treated with professional respect.”
The sessions will run via Teams from 7pm to 8pm on the first Wednesday of every month starting on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
There will be no agenda and no presentations. This is an informal Q&A drop in. You can join and leave at any time that suits you.
