UK Health Security Agency seeks responses on safer radiotherapy publications

UKHSA has published a survey asking Therapeutic Radiographers and others involved in radiotherapy safety their opinions on its publications

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has drafted a National Safer Radiotherapy publication survey, seeking opinions on its various publications and how they can be improved.

In efforts to better understand readership needs and how its publications are used, as well as sharing ideas for improvement, UKHSA is asking all health care professionals and others involved in radiotherapy to fill in the survey. Key findings of the survey will be used to inform future updates.

Publications issued by the UKHSA include the Safer Radiotherapy E-Bulletin series, which provides key messages from the patient safety initiative and learning from radiotherapy error (RTE) reports.

By comparing locally identified trends against the national picture, the e-Bulletin series supports the Patient Safety in Radiotherapy Steering Group’s (PSRT) recommendations for implementing learning from this analysis locally. In doing so, it is expected that these events might be mitigated in the future.

The Safer Radiotherapy e-Bulletin accompanies the Triannual Radiotherapy Error Analysis and Learning Report, designed to disseminate learning from RTE to professionals in the community to positively influence local practice and improve patient safety.

They are continuously reviewed and updated in liaison with the PSRT, which supports the coordination of efforts of the UKHSA, NHSE, relevant professional bodies and service users to improve patient safety in radiotherapy across the UK as part of the national patient safety initiative in radiotherapy.

To support these efforts, professionals in the radiotherapy community are being asked to answer twenty questions before 4 April 2025.

If you have any questions, or any concerns about completion of the survey please email the UKHSA radiotherapy team at [email protected].
