SoR members based in Scotland are encouraged to respond to a consultation survey in response to the Scottish government's pay offer.
Members of the SoR that are eligible to partake in the consultative survey should have received a link to the survey to their SoR-registered email address on Monday 2 September. The survey will be live from 2 September to 18 September 2024.
A pay offer was made on 20 August 2024, after the Scottish government agreed to enter negotiations with the Scottish Terms and Conditions Committee (STAC).
The offer from the government consists of a 5.5 per cent pay rise for all staff under the NHS Agenda for Change, including radiographers, backdated to 1 April 2024. The NHS Agenda for Change covers a majority of NHS staff, with the exclusion of doctors, dentists and very senior managers.
After the SoR considered the offer, the Society's Scottish Representatives' Forum and members of the SoR Scottish Council met on 27 August to discuss the pay award. At this meeting, the reps and Scottish council have unanimously recommended acceptance of the offer.
On 2 September, SoR's UK Council endorsed recommendations to accept the offer.
If the pay award is accepted before 24 September, the 5.5 per cent rise should begin in October's pay run, with the backdating being paid in November.
SoR members are being asked to consider all available information related to the pay offer before partaking in the survey. A briefing is available here.
"STAC negotiators consider the 5.5 per cent offer to be the best that can be achieved through negotiation," reads the briefing. "It is therefore the informed belief of your National Officer, the Scottish Representatives’ Forum and of Scottish Council and UK Council that this offer represents the best that can be achieved via negotiation and in the current circumstances."
On 3 September, the SoR announced that members in England had voted "overwhelmingly" in favour of the 5.5 per cent pay award. The online consultation released in this case resulted in 84 per cent of respondents voting in favour of the rise in pay.
For members in Scotland, you have received a link which will take you to a consultative survey - please ensure you complete the survey in full.
You are strongly urged to check your membership data to ensure the SoR has the correct contact information.
