Synergy April 2025 is now live

April Synergy features a profile on a consultant radiographer training for a marathon and the future of NHS England

The April edition of Synergy is now available to all SoR members, including a focus on the future of NHS England. 

April's edition also features a profile on Nicola Freeman, a consulant head and neck radiographer at Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) who is running the Brighton Marathon in aid of Salivary Gland Cancer UK. Nicola's role at LRI sees her manage patient's acute toxicity, part of which includes using photobiomodulation therapy to alleviate the side effects of radiotherapy.

In January, York Hospital unveiled its new SPECT/CT gamma camera, a gamechanger for their radiology department that will lower scan waiting times for patients. The team there tells Synergy about the innovative machine and how it will help boost the department.

Synergy April also includes a Q&A with Helen Bedford-Gay, trustee of FOP Friends, a charity that supports those affected by fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). FOP is a rare condition that cause unwanted bone growth. Helen tells Synergy about how radiographers can spot the condition.
