The latest edition of Synergy features updates from SoR members, analysis and profile interviews

Published: 07 February 2025 SoR

The newest edition of Synergy is now live and available to read for all SoR members.

February Synergy spotlights a feature on the Worcestershire Royal Hospital Oncology Centre, where Therapeutic Radiographers there share their insights and experiences of being on the team.

Specialist ultrasound practitioner Bill Smith tells Synergy what it was like to receive an OBE from Princess Anne during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in December. Bill's development of his transvaginal ultrasound technique saw him nominated for the honour.

We rewind slightly to the SoR trip to Aberdeen in October, where the SoR team spent time at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. Jemma Gray, a clinical specialist and sonographer at the hospital, shares her career journey and day-to-day life at the children's facility.

Also in this month's edition is an interview with Chidi Ollawa, secretary of Nigerian Radiographers in the Diaspora (NIRAD) and a sonographer at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. NIRAD represents Nigerian-born and Nigerian-trained radiographers practicing in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

  • Meet the team: Worcestershire Royal Hospital Oncology Centre
  • Bill Smith: from ultrasound pioneer to OBE

  • Could paediatric radiography be the career for you?

  • Q&A with UK Council rep for Wales: Amanda Evans

  • Radiography winners of the Gold Award for Excellence: ‘Anyone can be a leader’
