The Society of Radiographers (SoR) fully supports the TUC’s statement regarding recent racist criminal activities, which have allegedly arisen in response to the tragic events in Southport.

Our membership reflects the diversity of our health workforce, students and communities. We are one Society; we stand together and support each other.

As healthcare workers, SoR members will have been involved in seeing people affected by the knife attack and those caught up in the many incidences of conflict triggered by far right groups.

If any member from any part of our communities feels worried as a result of intimidation and bullying, please talk to colleagues and SoR Reps. We welcome and support all members, and we will do all we can to help. For members not directly impacted, please give extra consideration to colleagues from groups who are being targeted and reach out to them. Fostering a culture of kindness and solidarity helps everyone feel they belong.

SoR Reps can also work with employers to take all practical steps to help reassure staff and visitors to our workplaces so they feel safe and secure.
