An exceptional line up of presenters has been brought together by MRI Safety Matters® for the “MRI Safety Update and Innovations Day”, an event that looks sure to be both inspiring and enjoyable.

This “live” meeting (online optional) will be eagerly anticipated by MR Radiographers and associated MRI staff members. We will see the return to the UK by Dr. Frank G. Shellock, creator of the internationally popular website www.mrisafety.com and Director of MRI Safety at the University of Southern California.

This event will take place at The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh or online.

Programme

Dr. Shellock will speak about how to scan patients with new or unusual implants and the safety considerations when scanning patients using very high (7 T) and ultra-low (0.064 T) field MR systems, (the latest edition of Dr Shellock’s hardbound, 1,000+ page textbook, MRI Bioeffects, Safety, and Patient Management will be generously donated to the first 100 departments who have a registrant attending the meeting in person).

The safety considerations of static, time-varying gradient, and radiofrequency electromagnetic fields plus methods to reduce specific absorption rate (SAR) values will be explained by Professor Martin Graves, co-author of several books including the award-winning MRI: from Picture to Proton. Professor Graves will also provide an introduction to Artificial Intelligence and explain what Deep Learning means.

What’s new in MR contrast media will also be discussed by a leading expert in the field including the new macrocyclic gadolinium-based contrast agent, Gadoplicenol. Plus a Question and Answer panel involving all of the speakers will close the session, before a social reception, with complimentary drinks, from 5-pm to 7-pm.

With more speakers and content yet to be announced, this MRI Safety Update and Innovations Day is likely to be much sought after, so it is highly recommended to register soon.
