The Society of Radiographers’ Student Network has launched The Student Radiographer Podcast, providing a forum to discuss wellbeing and the profession
Launching on Monday (September 23), the podcast aims to inform, empower, equip, encourage and give voice to student radiographers.
Students across the country, from first to fourth year, diagnostic or therapeutic, whether full-time, part-time, or apprentice, listeners will find important conversation, community, interviews, information and more.
Student radiographers Rebekah Vyce (3rd year diagnostic radiography, University of the West of England), Connor Parish (3rd year therapeutic radiography, University of Suffolk), and Alice Denslow (2nd year diagnostic radiography degree apprentice, Exeter University), founded and host the podcast to bring greater attention to student wellbeing.
Episode one, “WHO are we & WHY are we here?”, is now available to stream on Spotify and Soundcloud.
Listeners will get an introduction and interview from each of the hosts, discussing their vision for the podcast and why each of them have gotten involved.
The project will continue throughout the year, before being passed onto new students next year to continue creating content in support of student radiographers.
Ms Vyce explained that the podcast will answer questions sent in, share tips and interview guests in hopes of drawing attention to issues facing student radiographers, sharing information that can support them, and enabling them to progress in the profession.
She said: “We want to give as many students a voice as possible. Obviously this is a really big vision, and we can't do that in a year, but we want to make sure that everything we do is towards that vision, and it's doing that in some part.
“We want to give students a space to talk about how it's going, what they're struggling with, or something that's going really well. It's all to create this community, where we can support each other getting through what is quite intense training.”
