The Chesney Award, which honours the memories of twin radiographers Muriel and Noreen Chesney, has opened for nominations for 2025.
Now in its fourth year, the Chesney Award celebrates undergraduate and student radiographers in the Midlands region who have consistently demonstrated a high standard of patient care and a significant understanding of patient experience.
SoR members are encouraged to submit nominations.
The winner of the Midlands Region Chesney Award will receive £100 and a certificate. To be eligible for the award, nominees must be undergraduate students or apprentices who are members of the SoR. Their clinical placement must be within the Midlands region.
Nominations can be submitted here until 31 August 2025. The winner will be announced at the MRC Region AGM in December.
Muriel and Noreen Chesney were famous radiographers. The sisters jointly authored a number of textbooks and papers, and were both superintendent teachers in the Midlands region - Muriel at Birmingham and Noreen at Coventry and Warwick.
Both were supporters of The International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists, and continued to associate with radiography following their respective retirements.
Muriel passed away in 2010 at the age of 89 and Noreen passed away in 2014 at the age of 93.
