Could you be the SoR’s UK Council representative for the Northern region?

With the Northern region seat on UK Council still remaining open, members from the area have the opportunity to stand for election

The Northern region’s only seat on the SoR UK Council remains open, giving members an opportunity to join and represent their region.

Council members become company directors of the Society, receive induction and training, and will be mentored by a more experienced council member.

The role also offers a unique opportunity to enhance leadership, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills while learning about governance and influencing policy to advance the professions.

Applying and being nominated

If appointed, members serve for a term of three years, with the option of standing for a further two terms.

Councillors are expected to attend meetings and actively participate in discussions, with most meetings welcoming virtual attendance.

If only one candidate is confirmed, they will be elected to the seat uncontested. Where there is more than one nomination, a ballot will be organised allowing all eligible members in the Northern region to vote.

To apply, complete the online application form by midday on Monday 2 December.

As part of the application process, members will need to provide the details of four other SoR members from the Northern region who are happy to endorse their nomination.

In addition, they will need to provide an election address to communicate how their skills and experience make them an ideal candidate.
