Radiation Protection Series: Justification and authorisation of exposures in diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy – whose role is it anyway?
Radiation Protection Series: Justification and authorisation of exposures in diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy – whose role is it anyway?
Help protect the interests of your patients by equipping yourself to effectively justify exposures and facilitate smooth patient pathways through diagnostic imaging.
We’ll explain the terms ‘operator’ and ‘practitioner’ as applied to IR(ME)R regulations, as well as the requirements of these roles. You will learn the difference between justification and authorisation under guidelines issued by the practitioner, and understand how to decide if radiographers need to be entitled as IR(ME)R practitioners and when it is helpful to do so – as well as the governance and training required for radiographers to carry out this role.
We will also cover how to escalate complex referrals where justification may be multifactorial, and how to manage them when the exposure is not justified.
You’ll leave with confidence to work appropriately within your scope of practice and present yourself as a radiation expert. You’ll also be able to reassure patients that your imaging exposures are as safe and effective as they can be.
Booking deadline: 12 November | 17:00. Please note after this date/time, your booking will not be approved.
A reminder that you can watch previously recorded sessions on demand.
