The University of Brighton welcomed their first diagnostic radiography students in September 2022 - now they are growing the teaching team, explains course leader Charlene Wallace.
"In clinical practice, I always enjoyed working with students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I find supporting students to develop their skills and problem-solving abilities, both rewarding and motivating (as well as ensuring that my own knowledge is up to date!).
"The move to academia was a natural one for me and is something that I feel very lucky and privileged to do.
We are all aware of the shortages that face our profession, therefore, to be involved in the recruitment and training of our future radiographers through multiple training routes is an exciting opportunity."
The new role is Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography and the deadline for applications is Sunday 12 March 2023.
The University of Brighton offers three diagnostic radiography courses:
"These courses allow us to support learners from a diverse range of backgrounds to reach their own unique potential, says Charlene. "This celebrates the University of Brighton’s mission to realise potential and shape futures, through high quality, practice-based learning, teaching and research. Learners have access to excellent resources including our brand-new x-ray suite and simulation software.
"As course leader for our new programmes at the University of Brighton, I have been involved in the development of the curriculum whilst ensuring that we are encompassing innovative teaching and learning methods.
"I am lucky enough to work with some of the most inspiring radiographers, who are dedicated to our profession and learners. To reach the point where we are at now, in course delivery and team expansion, is due to the course and wider teams hard work and commitment. We look forward to welcoming our newest member of the team, who will join us in this exciting opportunity.
