James Harcus
Associate Professor in Diagnostic Radiography, University of Bradford
James qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 2002 and has a background in clinical reporting and MSK ultrasound. He has been employed as an academic since 2012 and has slowly made his way round Yorkshire starting at Sheffield Hallam University, then University of Leeds, and now University of Bradford. Interestingly he is an alumni of all three institutions too! His main teaching focus is anatomy and image interpretation both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to a range of health professionals in the UK and internationally including radiographers, advanced nurse practitioners, physios, and doctors, and even to primary school children. He has experience in a range of roles including programme lead, head of admissions and now leads the radiographer reporting modules at Bradford.
Research and scholarship is a large part of his role and as well as supervising student dissertations he is actively involved in a number of research projects and an author of several peer-reviewed publications. His educational role extends externally as member of the ScoR’s Approval and Education board and has/is an external examiner and external subject specialist for a number of other Universities in the UK and beyond.
Martine Mallinson
Lead Research Radiographer, Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust
Martine qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer in 2003. She is now Lead Research Radiographer for the research team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. Martine has previously worked in various roles in Computed Tomography in both the UK and Australia and in 2023 completed her PhD which used a critical realist worldview to develop practice competencies for the CT workforce across NHS career framework levels. As well as an interest in radiography roles, she is passionate about radiography initiated clinical research that streamlines patient care pathways, and improves the experiences and outcomes of patients accessing imaging.
